Thanks for posting your question to r/duck. ![]() Your hardest challenge might be finding something yummy enough to keep them interested, if people regularly feed them they might not be hungry enough to come close to the box. Good luck!!! In my experience so far it only takes a couple of sessions to get then to go into the crate, especially if they already consider you to be a friend. Call the ducks, feed then inside the kennel, stand back and wait until they both enter, then pull the door shut. Make the string long enough that you can stand a distance away and pull the door closed by tugging the string. Step three, tie a string to the open gate and feed it through the cage bars. Bonus points for ducks in particular, if the kennel has a plastic tray at the bottom, pour some water in there so they can drink while they eat, or provide a water dish. Eventually, put food inside the kennel so they have to reach inside to eat. Being it with you when you feed, and start feeding the ducks closer and closer to the kennel. Step two, get a wire dog kennel with a swinging door. Visit with food, get it so that when you visit and call, they come happily looking for treats. I've caught 4 abandined ducks and 2 abandoned roosters with the following method.
